Awfully Chocolate at Raffles City represents Singapore's premier chocolate destination, bringing nearly three decades of artisanal chocolate expertise to the heart of the city's bustling shopping and business district. Located at 252 North Bridge Road, #B1-52 in the basement food court area, this compact outlet continues the brand's founding philosophy established in 1998 as a response to overcomplicated gourmet desserts, focusing instead on simple excellence and uncompromising quality. Since opening as Singapore's first dedicated chocolate cake specialist, Awfully Chocolate has maintained its commitment to handcrafted signature chocolate creations that emphasize substance over style.
The menu centers around the iconic chocolate fudge cake that built the brand's reputation, alongside an curated selection of premium chocolate desserts including the award-winning Chocolate Banana cake, recognized as one of Singapore's top five cakes, and the sophisticated Chocolate Rum and Cherry creation. Beyond cakes, the outlet offers sinfully decadent cupcakes, handcrafted truffle chocolates, and rich chocolate ice cream served at per scoop, all made from the finest dark chocolate using traditional techniques. The deliberately limited product line reflects Awfully Chocolate's philosophy of perfecting core offerings rather than overwhelming customers with variety, ensuring each item meets the brand's exacting standards.
The Raffles City location provides convenient access for office workers, shoppers, and tourists exploring Singapore's central business district, with ready-made cakes available in various sizes for immediate purchase and complimentary on-the-spot personalization. The outlet's strategic basement location makes it an ideal stop for last-minute celebrations or indulgent treats during shopping excursions. While opinions on value vary given premium pricing, Awfully Chocolate continues to attract loyal customers who appreciate the brand's unwavering commitment to authentic chocolate craftsmanship and the convenience of next-day delivery across Singapore for larger orders.
Even though the staff was really nice, friendly, and patient, I didn't like the chocolate cake (which was the main reason I came here). It tasted like “American chocolate”; it was not delicate at all. It was just way too sugary and buttery for me. It offered nothing special, no texture, and no flavor. I had the praline one, and it was just heavy chocolate cream with some pieces of nuts. I was also expecting a biscuit and some nutty praline to balance the pastry, but that wasn't the case. The raspberry one was slightly better, but the raspberry jam was just very gelatinous, which wasn't great. Also, quite expensive for such small cakes. I couldn't eat more, though, since it was so heavy.
I didn't try their chocolate bars, so I can't comment on those, but they did look really nice and with some original flavors too. They looked really fancy in sleek pencil boxes. I think overall you're paying more for the “fanciness” of the place than for the quality…

Slow and poor service. I will never go to Awfully Chocolate again! I went there yesterday. The staff told me that after I grabbed the item, I would only need to queue for less than 15 minutes. So I went and queued, but it took me more than 45 minutes with only 15 customers ahead of me. There was one guy who facilitated the queue. He gave chocolate cookies to everyone waiting in the queue, but he only ignored me. When it came to my turn, I walked to the cashier. She was a Malay girl, and she was busy talking with her colleagues about non-work related stuff (something about lunch). She packed my chocolate into the paper bag without scanning it, then she looked at the item four times? (If you know the queue is long, please just concentrate on your work. I don't think you couldn't remember two chocolates with one glance.) Please manage your employees well; they are not well-trained, slow, and not attentive.

I always patronise this outlet whenever I'm at Raffles City. Always. But today shall be the last time: 2:15 PM, March 14.
- Both staff members appeared disinterested and snobbish.
- The one scoop of ice cream was half the amount I usually have. When I inquired about it, they gave me another cup with less ice cream, which had already started melting.
Just as well, this unpleasant experience helped make up my mind to start patronising another chocolate ice cream shop nearby instead.

Here's an edited version:
I took away 1 chocolate cake. The taste is good, the packaging is nice, and the service is also not bad. However, they missed one important basic service: They don't provide an ice bag and never ask how long I'd be carrying it. Even Chateraise, a cheap but tasty Japanese sweet shop, provides an ice bag for free.

Bought one **scoop** of ice cream ($6.50). It was delicious. There's a sitting area around a fountain outside where you can sit and enjoy the ice cream.

I came to get a gift for my parents, as I had been overseas for a while. The staff, Leona and Ulfa, were so helpful with my selection and helped me choose the most suitable treat according to my family’s liking. Absolutely wonderful staff. Everything was neat and aesthetically pleasing!

Simply incredible, one of the best crème brûlées I’ve ever had. It was creamy, rich, and delicious. The crêpe cake was fantastic too, well-layered and scrumptious. Will definitely be visiting again!

Awfully Chocolate is my favourite place to go for chocolate goodies! I love their chocolate cakes and chocolate bars. Today I went to their Raffles City outlet and met Jiro. He's very friendly and helpful—he suggested what I should get for my three colleagues who are visiting Singapore next week. I am grateful to him and appreciate his help!

They offer rich, decadent chocolate cakes and creamy ice cream in a sleek, minimalist setting. Their signature items are the All Chocolate Cake and Hei Ice Cream. The quality of desserts is consistently high. A little pricey, but perfect for satisfying and indulging serious chocolate cravings.

Lelong lelong lelong. At first, I was about to queue and go in to see if my all-time fave salted pistachio chocolate was on sale. I walked around because there was a long queue along the fountain.
By the second time I went back, I was the 4th or 5th customer in the queue. Thanks to the staff who gave us a free cookie. By the time it was my turn to enter, I was informed the salted pistachio chocolate was already out of stock. No choice but to try their original cookie. Again, thanks to the staff who was standing at the entrance and vouched for me that I was in the queue before entering the shop. What's more, the staff also heard me asking where the salted pistachio chocolate was 🤤

The brookie is surprisingly nice! Think of a slightly fudgy brownie with a crumbly top. It was moist, and the richness of the chocolate came through without being overly sweet.
I love the service from the sweet staff, Rose. She was attentive and polite, and it really made my experience a very pleasant one. Keep up with the smiles and energy!

When I was waiting to pay during the annual sale, Lyna kindly passed me two cookies. I asked her what the flavour was, and she replied sweetly. I have yet to try the cookie. I'm always satisfied with the ice cream's quality, but the quantity is perhaps not as generous as 10 years ago.
