I went to this store yesterday. I bought a 1kg pack and a 3-piece pack of Applewood bakkwa. They couldn't find a good quality box, so they just used a 1kg display box. The three pieces of bak kwa were packed only in a small paper bag, folded up, with no vacuum packing or individual plastic bag. They just put everything in a big paper bag. The 3-piece pack made the box greasy. I was really disappointed with their packaging and won't be going to this store again.

I was craving Gourmet Bak kwa and purchased 500g from this outlet. I was sorely disappointed. Despite paying a premium, the pieces were so dry and tough. The fat ratio was such that it barely resembled 'bacon'. They used to be my trusted brand for a quick Bak kwa craving, but standards have dropped terribly. Nothing worse than a craving left unsatisfied. Edit: They reached out to me to find out more about the substandard Bak kwa I bought and offered a replacement. I chose to receive the replacement from their main store at Serangoon, where the product and grilling were better. So, if you see the Bak kwa looking dry in the display case, believe your eyes. As every griller is different. Overall, great service recovery. But such an incident should not happen for a trusted retail chain, as customers expect a standard across all outlets.

We called them at 7 PM and asked if they could wait for us until 9:30 PM because we needed to buy gifts from them to take home to Manila. They waited for us and even gave some freebies. We appreciate this branch of Bee Cheng Hiang very much. Thank you for the great service!
