I decided to wear a new dress bought from COS over a month ago. My colleague told me that the magnetic button was still attached to the lower back sleeve of the dress, which I didn't notice. I had to borrow a shawl and endure the discomfort until early afternoon, when I finished my last meeting. It took me 40 minutes to drive to Raffles City.
Without any empathy for the discomfort and trouble I went through, the nonchalant lady asked for evidence of purchase, which I clearly said I didn't have after a month. I was asked to check through my bank records when I said I couldn't even remember which credit card was used, or was it cash? I was further interrogated as to when, who, etc. I felt like a criminal when all I wanted was for them to help me remove the magnetic button. She said if I couldn't produce evidence of purchase, there was very little she could do to help me. Wow! I wasn't asking for a refund! I felt I was being suspected of theft.
So, I said I would have to throw the dress away since I couldn't wear it with the magnetic button attached and look like a clown. Then another lady said I didn't need to throw it away as she would help me remove the button.
So why did they make me feel like I was so wrong for not keeping the receipt after more than a month, when they could have shown better empathy? I wasn't even angry that it started with their negligence in forgetting the magnetic button at the point of purchase. They tried to explain their protocol to me, but they shouldn't have shifted the problem to their customer.
They could have helped me remove the magnetic button first and reminded me to be more careful in the future, instead of making me look like a criminal. They could have shown more empathy instead of interrogating an already very stressed customer (imagine walking around the office with a magnetic button attached to the dress).
Not that I think my business is a big deal to COS, they just lost one loyal customer! I walked into the shop like a fair lady, asking for a little help, and walked out like a hysterical mad woman, losing my cool.

This was my first visit, and enthralled by the many unique apparel on display, I picked a number of items and went to the fitting room to try them out. Staff member Syukur told me I could just enter any of the fitting rooms. It was fuss-free with no queues, and the fitting rooms were clean and spacious.
At one point, I wasn't sure about the style and fit, so I came out and sought help. Syukur cheerfully gave me some color recommendations and helped me get a few other items from the sales floor to try out.
Upon deciding which ones to purchase, I wanted to request new pieces, and he was very helpful in checking and retrieving them from the storeroom. Also, one of the dresses is uniquely intertwined, and I got a little confused about how to arrange it. He gladly showed me and even volunteered to help me pin it. Syukur held the item on a hanger, and I took a photo of the style to help me remember. He was very helpful and kind, and I must say that such a staff member is a gem!
